Researcher

Dr Roxanne Korda has recently completed a PHD Midland4Cities Doctoral Training Partnership with BCU, exploring how to use science in creating new works of opera. She has a a MMus in Vocal Performance (Distinction) from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, having previously studied Physics and Philosophy and Environmental science.

Her research explores using posthuman concepts to reinterpret the non human in a way that helps audiences to access a deeper sense of the reality of their surroundings, in context with their own humanity. She researches creative practice as a practitioner as well as seeking to understand the impact of theatre on audiences and society.

She has presented her work at various conferences including Music Since 1900, Opera for Peace, M4C Research Festival and Nottingham University Language and Text Society’s annual conference. She recently gave a public research seminar for Royal Birmingham Conservatoire on the topics of her PhD (March 5th).

Publications

She has recently coedited the upcoming publication “Transect of Coexistence: Inquiry into Nature, Art, and Habitat” with NAHR (www.nahr.it).

Her work was published by Novi Sad Academy for the Arts (Entanglement! An Entropic Tale) and Goldsmith’s University (Autohoodening: The Rise of Captain Swing, The Ballad of Goodwill).
